Bryce Bike Park Open Today BryceQ&A

Q&A: Bryce Bike Park!!

Who are you and what do you do at Bryce Bike Park?

My name is Derek Clifton and I am the Bike Park Manager.

How long ago was Bryce Bike Park developed? Who or what was the driving force?

Bryce Bike Park was developed in the spring of 2013 in response to the increasing interest in the downhill mountain biking scene.

What kind of bikes do you have this year for your rental fleet?

We are proud to have a full fleet of 2014 Trek Session’s, 2014 Trek Slash’s, 2014 Kona Entourage’s, 2014 Kona Stinky Jr.’s.

Do you offer lessons for beginners or riders who want to improve their skills?

We do offer lessons for all riding skill levels. Our instructors where trained by Terramethod Cycling out of Whistler Bike Park. Our instructors teach two levels of riding, Level 1 and Level 2. Level 1 classes include teaching braking, turning, riding stance, and many other skills. Level 2 classes teaches how to jump properly, line choice, drops and step ups, and many other higher level riding skills.

What is the most popular trail at your bike park?

The most popular trail that our riders love to shred would be Brew Thru, it is a mile and half jump trail with wooden features.

Will there be any new trails added this year or will you be re-developing any existing trails?

We have one new trail that we are building which will be an amateur downhill trail to help riders progress their skills. Also, we will be re-developing Screwdriver, a fast twisty-turny trail, which will be a complete top to bottom trail now.

Describe the predominant “style” of riding at your park? (Natural vs. Manmade, DH/Tech/Steep vs. Flow/Features) Typically, what kind of terrain do you have? (Rocky, Dry-dusty, Tacky, Roots)…

We have all manmade trails that are well manicured. The trails are composed on crush shale which makes the trail basically like a sidewalk.  Our trails are a mix of true DH and flow.

Tell us about any big events that are happening this summer at the bike park?

This summer we will have some DH and Enduro races as well as our end of the season bike park party, Bryce Bike Bonanza.
