iXS European Downhill Cup in Pila iXS 3 at Pila

On the upcoming first weekend of August the third venue of the iXS European Downhill Cup 2013 will be Pila – a little village and ski resort near Aosta in Italy.

Over the past years, Pila’s bike park became one of the classic venues of the cup and played host to more than just one big event. This year, 350 riders from 24 nations registered for the race on a fast track prepared by the former World Cup winner Corrado Herin. With 2.6 kilometers in length and additional 500 vertical meters on offer, it will definitely be challenging and far from easy for the numerous participants.

The first points on every rider’s agenda will be the track walk and a first official training session on Friday. On Saturday there will be an obligatory training in the morning and a first timed run with the qualifying at 14:30. The finals are scheduled for Sunday after a last training session. Of course, there are some odds-on favorites on the long list of starters, so it is not easy to venture a prognosis for the win. Robin Wallner (SWE - Team Åre bikepark) won in Pila last year and therefore moved on top of the men’s overall standings of the iXS European Downhill Cup 2012.

For everyone who needs to refresh his memory: Feel free to watch the GoPro Course Check 2012 with Emilie Siegenthaler (SUI - Scott 11). On Saturday, there will be another onboard video of this year’s track.
