Fort William, home of the UCI World Cup and the best race event of the year, as literally thousands of Brits flock up north to Scotland to check out the action. Test yourself on the Nevis Range DH trail, the only official World Cup DH in the UK; 555m vertical drop from top to bottom in just over 4 and half minutes (at least if you're a pro). The famous Red Route XC trail is a steep, rugged and tough single-track with a surface of timber boardwalk, bedrock, gravel and rock gardens, and plenty of berms, rock drop, jumps and gaps to keep you smiling. There are 2 bike hire options available on site, Alpine Bikes and Nevis Cycles. Guiding and coaching is available through the Nevis Bike School. And there are various competitions going on throughout the year, including of course the UCI World Cup. If you only ever make one UCI event in your life then make in Fort William as there is just nothing else like it!

• The price for gondola uplift for bikes includes a contribution to track maintenance, limited first aid, gondola access and a payment to the Forestry Commission
