The well-known Wurzel Trail (Wurzel = root) links the Kohlmais summit with the Wildenkarkogel mountain and follows a route about 1800 m above sea level, always a little below the ridge. It begins to the east of the Kohlmais summit, right behind the Panorama chair lift and takes you for kilometres across meadows and through woodland to the Schönleitenhütte, and is dotted with lots of interesting tricky bits. Root-junkies will be in their element on this trail, whilst beginners will find it a somewhat bumpy ride, as the trail lives up to its name. It provides the perfect opportunity to hone your riding skills.

 

Tip: The Wurzel Trail is also part of the BIG-5-BIKE Challenge and can be ridden in either direction, so we advise greater caution and always look ahead.
