Introduction

The Hafjell Bike Park has experienced a rapid rise over recent years and their growing reputation has resulted in their selection to host the 2014 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in September. Hafjell is located in the beautiful Gubrandsdalen region, a 2½ hours drive north from Oslo and 15 minutes drive from Lillehammer - scene of the 1994 Winter Olympics. It has 25 km of trails accessed by a gondola and a chair lift and an elevation drop of 750 meters.

There are two different kinds of trails; machine-built ones which are wide, with jumps and flowing berms, and the single-track trails which use the natural Scandinavian terrain with a lot of rocks, roots and the slightly sandy ground to challenge you. The 18 different trails ranging from beginner standard through to expert only. The quantity and quality is outstanding so you can easily justify a long stay and always find new variations in the trails. There’s a bike shop and rental shop with 140 downhill bikes and 35 trail bikes available, located at the bottom of the bike park. There’s also a workshop within the same building just in case something brakes and you need some qualified help.
